Good afternoon and happy Fri-yay! I hope you all have a fantastic weekend. I was supposed to be on the beach with some family, but instead I’ll be knee-deep in grout and tiles. I’m not complaining though 😉 Plumber was supposed to install the tub this afternoon, but he rescheduled for the morning which means 1. I will definitely have a tub tomorrow! (OMG. I can’t wait to relax in that tub. You have no idea. I have been waiting for soooo looonng.) 2. We will be able to finish the floor tiling when he is done. 3. We will get to the wall tile in the tub/shower after the tub is in – which means there is a great chance all tile work will be done on Saturday – which means 4. I may be taking a trip to Ikea on Sunday to pick up my vanity finally. (They were seriously going to charge me almost $400 to ship it to me! Can you believe that? I will definitely be taking my credit card to Ikea in Houston. I spent that $400 on the Zara Sale instead! Maybe I’ll post what I got later! Ha)
Anyways, Tile! What do you guys think of square white tiles? I’ve seen white subway tiles a million times and even did them in my kitchen remodel. I have not seen these white tiles in a LONG time. I think my mom had something similar in her old kitchen. (Chime in in the comments, Mom.) Back then they laid the tile evenly right on top of each other though. I like this look of putting them like a subway pattern.
I really like the black tiled honeycomb floor above, but I want to stay away from light-colored grout! With future renters, I don’t believe the grout would stay white easily.
The above floor tile was my original plan as well to keep with the era of the home.
After more hours on Pinterest, I was really interested in cement tile! I’m in love with it! Everything I found that I liked was out of my budget for this flip though. I have to keep reminding myself that this home will eventually be a rental and not my forever home, take a glance at my savings account for this project, and readjust my plans haha.
Then I saw the photo above. I really debated doing a herringbone pattern with wood in the kitchen and decided to do easy instead. The kitchen was my first tiling job so easy was best. I did do a diagonal pattern in the kitchen instead of straight squares though which I’m proud of myself for. It only took a little convincing and demonstration to the significant other to convince him! Now I’ve convinced him on the herringbone in the bathroom! He even got excited about it and picked out the tiles to do it with, haha. So dead again was my cement tile idea…
Let me know what you think of these tile ideas in the comments below. I think the square tiles still look very classic like subway tiles. Subscribe to stay tuned for a sneak peek of the bathroom! You can see more of my inspiration photos by following me on Pinterest!
