Hey guys! We have made a lot of progress in the bathroom and are hoping to have most of it done this weekend, so I wanted to show you the before pictures! This project was a COMPLETE remodel. We completely gutted it to the joists like you could see the ground under the house! (I live in a home that is raised on piers.) You will definitely want to subscribe if you have not already and stay tuned for a HUGE before and after!
The poor layout of the bathroom made it uncomfortable and crowded. They definitely did not optimize their square footage when they designed it. When you first walk in on the left is a storage closet. This space would have made so much more sense for the toilet. Imagine being tall and having to use the toilet where it in the photo! My knees would touch that side wall and tub. It was terrible.
Don’t really know what to say about the above picture. Just why? And yuck! Again, poor design. Could have been much better.
Old cheap fixtures. Poor use of mixed metals. Smh, haha. Cheap medicine cabinet with mirror. This bathroom looks like it belongs in an old camp where they just used miscellaneous pieces and threw it together. Function not fashion, and very poor function at that.
As you can see in the pic above, there looks to be a leak. When I bought the place, I assumed it was old and had been repaired. It being over the tub we didn’t notice because a tub is usually wet, ha, or we assumed the faucet was leaking. Once we ripped out EVERYTHING, we had to use the shower upstairs. One day when my boyfriend was showering, I could hear water leaking. I went to the bathroom and could really notice the small leak then dripping no to the bare wood floor. This put a halt on the progress because the leak had to be addressed before we could close all the walls back up. Our plumber had already moved all the plumbing around for our new design when we found this problem. He went on vacation, then weeks turned into months… Then I hired another plumber, haha. I couldn’t really complain about the other plumber not coming back when he was a friend helping us out and not charging us. We were super thankful for him, but I would have hired someone much sooner if I would have known how long we were going to be waiting.
Everything is fixed and ready to go now. We are just waiting on us now to finish up. Hoping to be able to install tub tomorrow and finish tiling over the weekend. I’ll post some pictures of the progress soon. I’m debating on tomorrow or Monday. What do you think?
